Khalid bin Al Waleed Dubai Metro Station

The best way to move around the city it is by Metro. Dubai has two metro lines: Red & Green. The fare is similar to Washington DC by distance. The metro cards are Red, Gray and Gold. The Red card is recommended for Tourist. You can catch the train from the Airport to go to your hotel. On Friday’s metro opens after 1pm; the trains run from 6am to12pm from Saturday to Thursday and from 2pm to 12am on Fridays. Usually the first or last train car is dedicated only for women and children-theother cars for everyone including women and children. Look at the writing on top there are some cars for Gold card holders and you should not be in that car also. Dubai Airport Wi-FI user ID is Maxspot in case you needed to use your Wi-Fi once you get off the plane. Dubai use military time or 24 hr so …get yourself familiarize we that. The Airport Terminal 3 is the most beautiful airport –even though I still think Amsterdam airport is one of the top.

Once you get to Dubai what to see and do-

1. Dubai Museum- it is the main museum in Dubai –located in the Al Fahidi metor station. Take the Green metro to Al Fahidi and ask for direction. The museum built in 1787 and is the oldest existing building in Dubai. Hours Monday – Thursday; Saturday – Sunday 8:30 am – 8:30 pm; On Friday 2:30 pm -8:30 pm. Entrance fee 3 AED (0.82 cent in US Dollars)
2. The Dubai Mall & Burj Khalifa (AT the Top-tallest building 206 floor); The Dancing Fountain; Dubai ice Rink, Dubai Aquarium. Waterfall at Dubai Mall with Diving Statues is work of art located inside the mall. To get here take the red line metro and get off at Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall metro station. The stations also have numbers and this station is #25.

Burj Khalifa

a) Dubai Aquarium and underwater Zoo:
Sunday to Wednesday from 10am to 10pm
Last admission: 9:30pm
Thursday to Saturday from 10am to 12 midnight
Last admission: 11:30pm

b) Dubai Fountain Schedule
Evening Shows
6:00 PM to 11:00 PM Sun – Wed
6:00 PM to 11:30 PM Thu – Sat
(Every 30 Minutes)

c) At the Top Burj Khalifa – my recommendation it does not worth your money ($29.00 US dollar) to take the elevator to 124 floor, but if you want go for it do it early sometime before it get dark and do not buy any additional thing they offer you some type of card for AED 25.00 just say you do not need it.
Open daily
Sunday – Wednesday 9AM – midnight
Thursday – 8:30AM – midnight
Friday – Saturday 4:30AM – midnight

d) Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo
250 AED ($68.00 US Dollar)
3. Mall of the Emirates- red line get off at station # 32 or Mall of the Emirates station- it is a mall and you will see Ski Dubai –you will be impressed.
4. Dubai Gold; spice and textile Souk- take the Green metro and get off at station# 23 or Al Ras. After that take RTA water taxi to the other side and walk around..you will see different Embassy
5. Burj Al Arab Hotel – you need to make reservation to get in. Afternoon tea is the best thing to do – make your reservation in the afternoon b/n 4:30 and 5:30 and ask for window sit. Hot to get to the hotel take red line and get off at station #34 or Dubai Internet City –when you exit take a taxi to the hotel. It is always a good idea to take the business card of the hotel you are staying- most taxi drivers does not know the city well- so instead of explain where you want to go at night if you take a taxi to your hotel give the driver the hotel business card. And if you plan to go somewhere by taxi make sure you write the correct address in the paper and give that to the driver instead of try to explain to the driver where you want to go.
6. Evening Desert Safari 160 AED ($44 US dollar) and Abu Dhabi City Tour (360 AED $98 US Dollar). This is the web page or the tour guide I used for Evening Desert Safari http://www.dadabhaitravel.ae/- I traveled by myself to Abu Dhabi but their rate seems reasonable.

Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi

7. If you have a day to waste my recommendation will be Atlantis The Palm, Dubai- it is water park and fun, fun, fun. If you do not have those kinds of day go to Jumeirah Beach- just to say you have seen the beach. I have not had enough time to visit Jumeirah beach (bad time management) but Atlantis was fun and it has its own beach.
8. If it is any help I have downloaded currency converter app –which came handy whenever I need it. Every metro station has currency exchange kiosk so you do not need to worry about getting money. Just as a reminder when you get your currency exchange, always asks for small bills nothing larger than $20 bill. From what I notice they are not used to give back your changes. I think the wealthy residents or locals as they are called do not take their changes and the Cab-drivers and the waitress think everyone do not expect to get their change back.

Well I tried to put as much information as I can, hope I did not forget anything. BTW- both Dubai and Abu Dhabi are like any western city; you can wear pretty much anything-short; sleeveless ……

My 0.50 Cent for your 2020 Olympic Trip to Japan

These Are few words you need to familiarize yourself

First thing first the toilet AKA Washlet! Japanese people are way advanced when you think about bathroom experience.. Do you want your behind washed; their toilet have the app for that, deodorize the room, destruction noise in case you don’t want to alert you are doing #2 or you just want a music to play while you are taking care of personal hygiene.

Don’t even think of Jaywalking, I don’t think they even heard of the word. Please no jaywalking. They only use the zebra crossing and only when the crossing light turn green, no exception.

What to see?

Japan is an old country full of history, temples and shrines. Don’t temple out yourself. If you see two important one that will be enough, pretty much for us foreigners all looks the same.

Mt Fuji-depending on when you will be in Japan matter what type of Mt. Fuji you are going to experience. I went in the beginning of March, so the top part of it was covered by snow. That is what we know about Mt. Fuji, but if you arrived in the middle of summer Mt. Fuji is going to look like an ordinary Mountain

Miyajima

By the way this is floating, it is not hunkered down

Make sure you make time to visit Hiroshima the standing building as well as the museum. If you decided to visit one museum make sure this will be the one

The bamboo Jungle

And the Big Buddha

The trains could be expensive as well as confusing. Please do your research before you get to Japan. If you decide to get the Japan rail pass you need to order and receive it before you jump in that flight

And the food: Japan is a paradise for pork and sushi lover. But in Tokyo be ready to wait on line outside the restaurant for 45 minutes minimum. The restaurants are small limited space do not take reservations most of time. And English is not their first language or second, but they are a well mannered and extremely polite society

And they love to display replica of their menu

The amazing life of Traveling #5 London- Great Britain-England 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

London-Great Britain from September 8 through 18, 2011
London is tourist friendly-the language is English-bought a week pass for bus/train the very next day.
Thursday September 8, 2011
London is big –a lot to see. The first day as usual nothing happened- got off at Kingcross Station also known as St. Pancras Station. (And the only thing I am thinking #HarryPotter)

Friday September 9, 2011

Bought one week Oyster Card-top up (top up mean load it up) with London Phone card and out on the road. My cousin house is located in the East side of London; the bus station Brook Green. I will take bus #72, 220, 295 or 283 to Shepherds Bush station (double decker bus –which I always sit on top in the front)-change to bus #148 and this will take me to center of town Westminster Station.

Westminster Church from the outside it is ordinary simple church. To see the inside you need to pay 10.00 pound or if you are participating an hour 5:30 pm church service it is free. You could go inside for free and also you will be able to hear & watch the Westminster Abbey well-known choir sing. Today is dedicated to finding out what is where and marking it on the map. I decided not to be in hop-on hop-off bus; but the original tour of Hop-on Hop-off bus was giving away a free map of London attraction at the bridge crossing Westminster. I took it gladly and start circling in what I want to see- I located the house of Parliament, London Eye, Buckingham Palace, and Big Ben-which is next to the house of Parliament and in front of Trafalgar Square. AT 5:30 I went back to Westminster Abbey- to participate church service and enjoyed listing to the Choir. It is nice to see all this places you heard of it, read about it-seen it on TV and movie..to be inside and look at it at my naked eyes were priceless.

Saturday September 10, 2011

Up in the mooring- went out to see the other side of the town-when I get to center of the town-it was 11:30-I went straight to the Buckingham Palace to watch the Change of Guard. A lot of people-I watched it but did not able to secure a good spot. London must be leaving at the Tourist fund. I could not believe how many people were out there!! Unbelievable…..

Sunday September 11, 2011 Ethiopian New Year 🍾🍾🎉

Took a break to have family time- lunch at my other cousin house. Fun field day- eat and drink the Ethiopian way in London City.

Monday September 12, 2011

I do enjoy self-touring in my own pace, I do not take bus and I walk fast-

Today is dedicated for discovering the Southbank

  • Swiss Re-tower it is also known as the Gherkin; the truth I don’t understand why the could not build this type of building is confusing
  • Tower Hill
  • St. Paul Cathedral
  • Tate Modern
  • Tower of London
  • Tower bridge

Before that I want to secure the best spot to see the Change of Guard at Buckingham Palace. I arrived at 9:30 am- the Change of Guard will start at 11:30 am and last about 45 minutes. One of my cuz joined me at around 1130 am-she said she been living in London for the last five years, but she never came down to see the Change of Guard and she did not know about it either. She and me enjoyed the show-it is like a July fire work-it is fantasy –it does not look like real. It looks like a movie in a making

1. Southwark Cathedral– while walking towards Southbank –I see this very old church-I stop by to see the church and start reading –one of the people from the church help write King James Bible. It has a lot of history

2. Tower-bridge– walk in the top even though it is not that exiting. I thought I would be walking outside, but it is a built in passage way with glass. It did not trill me at all- what made me exited is the opening of the London bridge –totally wonderful experience.

3. When I get to Tower of London– it was almost 5:30- the tower closed at 5:30- look at it from outside –I am sure it would have been an experience to go inside- it looks like from medieval

4. The Swiss re-tower or the Gherkin –is a breathtaking structural building- it looks like a big Egg.

5. London need more than two weeks- I did not able to see Tate modern, Shakespeare globe and St. Paul Cathedral- need to be reschedule.

If you love history, you will fall in Love with London.  No ideal moment; so many place to be, so many churches, museums to visit.

Tuesday September 20, 2011 spent with family.

The New Mall-which I was told the biggest in the world-Westfield Mall. I did not care that much- I am not a mall person-beside I am budget traveler-I do not have that much money to spend and London pound is expensive-my dollar does not have value at all. By the way-I did receive my new credit card when I get to London, but the credit card is only to be used in case of emergency. My day spent doing window shopping- at 3pm alas – Done.

Wednesday September 14, 2011

Today the first thing will be to visit Buckingham Palace and the last thing will be London Eye. I bought my entrance  ticket to the palace at 9 am for 10 am tour. I took a tour of the Buckingham Palace Garden- think of it as Central Park of New York – this one facing the Palace –lot of lake. Went back to Buckingham Palace- and I did not left the Palace till 2pm. The highlight of the Palace tour –Prince William and Kate Middelton wedding –her wedding gown-see it in my naked eye –listen how it was made- the dress may look a very simple when you look at it on the TV-but when you went to the palace see it and hear the detail of the making of the dress-you will learn what an extraordinary dress it is. At the Palace gift shop I bought tie 100% Silk and it was made with the same curtain design in the Palace.

I am so tired-and my back pack feel heavier- I stop by the Palace café to eat th–after I left the Palace I walk for a while bought about 5 T-shirts for 20.00 pound. I tried to walk to London Eye, but changed my mind-I am too tired took the bus the house.  Headed out atlate night to see the city at night from London Eye capsule. The London Eye capsule move in fraction of seconds- yes you could see the city-but you just do it so that you would not regrets it. It is not all that!! But it looks nice to look at it from outside. The House of Parliament looks very nice at night and some of the bridges–especially when you look at it from the capsule

Thursday September 15, 2011

At 10 am catch the bus # 10 to king cross station-will get off at Euston Station- it will take about 55 minute –time to enjoy the City from top deck of bus # 10. The bus went through the well-known Oxford Circus – change bus # 30 towards Hackney Wick and get off at Hayburry. MY sinus –allergy is in full blown – I have taken one Benadryl but I am sneezing and blowing my nose.  I think my body is exhausted

11:28 Hayburry Sation; went out to take picture of Arsenal Stadium at 15:43 (3:43 pm). This is another reason I want to come back to London – what is good to come all the way to London and if you are not able to watch even one football game.

I want to stay there till they turn off the light- on September 6, 2011-but Europe weather was not cooperative. It started to drizzle and I have to run to Metro. Meto in France is similar to New York City Sub-way-dirty, large with all type of numbers trains-transfer here –transfer there. It is very easy to get used to it. The fare is 1.75 euro

September 7, 2011 Wednesday- False Alarm!!!. I could not find my wallet-I call and canceled my only credit card-what a mistake-not the canceling part but to carry only on credit card. It is not a well thought plan in my part. It is not that important-I am in my last leg of trip. Next one is London and I have about $500.00 US dollar on me. I will try to ask the credit card company if they can mail it to me in London.
I went to buy my ticket to London to Gare East to be told for international train –I should go to Gare Nord. Gare Nord is a block from our nasty hotel and Gare East about four blocks. I am standing online around 11:46am to buy a ticket –this girl told me the ticket will be approximately 82.00 Euro-I have some cash on me –I am going to try to buy using little cash I have left on me since I do not have a credit card. The ticket clerk nice gentleman – said my sit #68 is the best-I did not have enough money to buy the ticket –since the price of the ticket to London from Paris increase or decrease by a minutes and the ticket was $133.00 euro. I told him I will be back and when I came back with Mimi and her credit card-thank lord that is one of the reason you need a travel companion-he said I should not got back to the line-he took me totally ignoring the rumbling older couple-that he take me before them. He asks me if I prefer to sit by the window to see the view-be nice smile and you will be rewarded!!!
His advices buy your ticket online in advance it is much cheaper- the girl who told me her ticket is 82.00 euro-she bought it online
Took a plane from Washington DC to Netherland and train to Belgium; Luxembourg; Paris-I have not been asked even one time for a passport-where I am going; where I am staying at- or go through some security check point- my train ride to London is different. I feel like I am living Europe to some other continent –the first one is security check-I do not have a language just a carry on; fill out some type of immigration paper work-which ask where I am going to stay- I know my cousin will wait for me at the train station but I did not ask for his address-what a mistake. I will call this Mistake #2 next to carrying one credit card only!!!. I tried to call my cousin while I was waiting online to pass Pass through London Immigration officer-a black lady with British accent-but I did not able to get him. She ask me where I am going and I told her to visit London. She ask where I am staying I said with a cousin –she said the address-I said I have a phone number but no address-I said I have not been ask for address when I travel from Netherland to Paris and it did not cross my mine to have an address. She said Great Britain required an address- I said I have a ticket to head back to USA-I can show you my itinerary-it is a honest mistake on my side-I tried to call him but I could not get in touch with him. She said what if he would not be at the station when I get to London-I said I have stayed at hotel in Netherland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Paris- and I think I will be doing the same thing. I have a credit card-do you want to see that also? With serious face and a warning for the next time-she let me pass the security check…
While in frantic to find the address –after I call my cousin –I call my brother Tata in Canada-even though I knew we have a time difference and it will be in the middle of the night. I know who to call in case of Emergency- not only he picked up-but call my cousin several times-till he pick up the phone and made him call me at 10:55 am –even though I had passed the check point I did not trust myself- I got his address

VAN GOGH Museum
–entrance fee 14.00 Euro

Van Gogh aim to become painter of peasant sceanes. He studies with Anton Mauve Hague School under his supervision he made his first panting.
What I like at Van Gogh Museum

  1.  1887 L. Lhermitte by Leon Lhermitte 1844 – 1925 Het Hooien
  2. Wood Cutters by Anton Mauve 1838-1888 –It is about nature

End of the first floor

  1. Avenue with poplars in autumns by Van Gogh 1853 – 1890 Oil on Canvas

He did not regard this painting as work of art in itself- as he wrote to his brother Theo. The effect of light and shadow is not entirely realistic –the shadow cast by the trees does fall in the same diameter as those easts by the rails.

      2. The Cottage- Oil on Canvas by Van Gogh

      3. Peasant Family at the table 1882 by Boerrgez in can de Mealtijd 1824 – 1911

      4. Potato Eaters 1885 by Van Gogh- His first attempt to produce a true masterpiece. But, the painting did not bring his the success he deserved and he would never again produce such an ambitious composition.

      5. The Haymaking- Eragny by Camile Pissarro 1887- Camille Pissarro 1830 – 1903 known for and introduce Ban Gogh to draw using point paint or Pointillist.

End of the second and 3rd floor

  1. Figure Under a blooming tree 1904 – 1905 by Odilon Redon 1840-1916 –Canvas-animal glue
  2. Effie Deans from Walter Scott’s Novel “Heart of Midlothian” 1876 -1881 by James Abbott Mac Neill Whistler 1834 -1903 Oil On Canvas

Van Gogh was born on 30 March 1853. At age 26 he decided to become an artist-unemployed and complete looser. On 27 July 1890 he shot himself in the chest and died two days later. Theo his brother on his side left 900 paintings and 1,100 drawings 800 letters. Theo is his brother who helped him financially. Theo died 6th month after Van Gogh. Van Gogh buried in Auvers-Suroise. His brother 1st buried in Netherlands, but removed and reburied in Auvers.
Van Gogh cut off part of his ear during a heated argument with Paul Gauguin

I enjoyed every second of it…when you enter the museum- Anne father have a recorded video message-he said “if you parents think you know your children, think again. He said he thought he knew his Anne till he start reading her diary after her death.

Hermitage Amsterdam

I wanted also to see City of Haarlem- St. Bravo’s Cathedral and famous Muller Organ that was played by both Mozart and Handel located in City of Haarlem, but did not have time.

Amazing life of Traveling #3 Luxembourg 🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺

Luxembourg CityLeft Brussels to Luxembourg via train on September 3, 2011 Saturday at 11:46 am. It is funny-we are heading to Luxembourg and we did not reserve a hotel- it is added  on our way to France. The fare to Lux from Brussels round trip is 60.00 Euro (for two)-if you want a one way ticket it cost you 70.00 euro (for two)-I think they just do not want to let you go from Brussels. One thing –euro they do not use period to separate the dollar from the cent-they use comma- like this 60,00 instead of 60.00 and for the hour they use period instead of semi colon eg. Time is 13.20 pm instead of 13:20 pm. The attendant who sold us the ticket at Gare Central Brussels –he said if we are lucky in finding couples at Gare Luxembourg who are heading to Brussels-we could sell our ticket-the ticket is for 24 hr.
On the train to Lux- I tried to put my carry-on luggage on the head compartment-like any New Yorker-can do it by myself attitude- the train start moving and I lost my balance-two good gentlemen’s (a black young man and an older white –he looks like an Irish man) catch  me like I am some sort of Basketball- and I did not know which language to use to thank them. The White –Irish looking man got off at Ciney-smaller city at station 12:59 pm. Before he got off he wrote down the station where the train stops between Brussels and Lux for me.
From Brussels- Belgium to Luxembourg –Track IC September 3, 2011 Saturday

• Natwr at 12:40 pm

• Ciney at 12:59 pm

• Mrloie at 13.14 pm (1:14)

• Jemelle at 13.20pm (1:20)

• Libramont at 13.41 pm (1:41)

• Tarbehan at 13.59 pm (1:59)

• Arlon at 14.13 pm (2:13)

• Luxembourg at 14.37 (2:37)

As soon as I got to Lux I bought Luxembourg Card for 10.00 euro- since we are only staying for a day-the card will come handy- it could be used –free admission to 55 sites unlimited visit and trains & busses on the National Public transport free (Grand-Duchy of Lux public transport network).  It is a best friend of a tourist

Luxembourg is green-mystifying –I thought Netherland was beautiful-boy everyone should visit Luxembourg even if it is for one day!!On September 3, 2011 went inside and seat for the few minute at church in the afternoon. The church has a lot of Parishioners-I have been in different churches since I started my tour of Europe-beautiful churches but empty-this is different-people rushing not to miss –I think 4pm service-Eglise St Alphonse church. The language is French –the same as Brussels. In Netherland –the language is Polish-but people speak English as well as French. When people great each other in Brussels-they give one kiss on the cheek for both men and women and Luxembourg –three kisses on the cheek for both men and women.

On September 4, 2011 Sunday- visited ETTELBRUCKVIANDEN – took a train from Lux-to Ettelbruck and a bus to Vianden. While I was waiting for a bus I started chitchatting with this young 14 years old girl-she is also waiting for a different bus-she speak conversational English-which she said took it for a year-speak Lëtzebuergesch; French and some Spanish. Amazing!! –Use the Vianden Chairlift (my first Chairlift ride) to see the City and Vianden Castle-it has this quiet beautiful splendid sight- the Vianden Castle-look like something from Robin Hood movie-old mystic. Returning back from Vianden- one of the older passenger he got in the bus-when he gave the bus driver the fare and the driver about to give him his change-the man said to keep the change-like it is a taxi-interesting. I got to the train station –heading back to Lux city- and I must have took the express train –it skipe most of the stations:-These are the stations between city of Lux and Vianden.

We stayed Best Western hotel right in front of Gare-Luxembourg- small but nice neat hotel-breakfast included – pack and left to Paris on September 4, 2011 Sunday at 17:12 pm.

We just jump in the train and sat –since the train looks empty. Then my travel companion (it is cheaper when you are two sharing hotel and ticket for a train) went to investigate the other cars and use the toilet. When she came back she said she talk to the conductor if we could move from our car to the car she thought seem to have a better sitting arrangements- the conductor said we can till the people who reserved the sit showed up-at that time I said does our ticket have a sit number-she said NO-at the same time a lady came to our sit and said the sit belong to her…funny. Thanks lord the train has not started moving- we look at our ticket and start searching for our reserved sit- we have been traveling from Amsterdam to Paris using street car, bus and train-this is the first time we found out that we need to be in some numbered sit as if we are in a plane. When we got to our sit-here we go again-someone is relaxing at our sit-

Amazing life of Traveling #2 BRUSSELS, BELGIUM 🇧🇪🇧🇪🇧🇪

BRUSSELS, BELGIUM FROM AUGUST 31, 2011 THROUGH September 3, 2011

I stayed at Best Western City Centre Square Victoria Regina 9, B1210, Brussels BelgiumThe hotel is not that great—but I am budget traveler-not fancy-and good enough for $- breakfast is included but it is not all that. There is another Best Western hotel right next to Gare Brussels- it might be better & $$ the location is good also, better than the one I have-but could not complain. The other Best Western is right next to the chocolate semi-factory.
 1. Royal Palace or Maison du Roi; It is amazing – grand-Official palace of the king of Belgium. It is not used as royal residence-the king and his family live in Royal Castle of Laeken-on outskirt of Brussels. Entrance is free-visited on September 2, 2011 at 10:29 am Friday

2. St Michael & St. Gudula Cathedral– is a Gothic Roman Catholic Church. Open 7 am – 7 pm from April to September. Free. Since it is located between my hotel and Gare Centrale- I stop by every mooring and pass by in the evening. It has its own way of bringing piece to me. It is a most beautiful and peaceful church. This is my favorite of all!!!!!!❤️💛💚💙💜

3. Manneken Pis– This is a joke- I could not believe my eye…and every time I think about it I want to laugh so loud. I mean you hear so much about this statue, see a lot of picture- you just could not imagine Brussels without this statue and you will go to visit it…it is the most smallest statue. You think you found the replica of it as a joke; till you are told this is it I still could not believe it.  What a disappointment 🤔😳😱🤒

4. Notre Dame Du Sablon– free. It took me forever to find this church. I had almost given up, even though now I am doing much better in finding  my locations. Church of Our Lady of Sablon- Gothic church few blocks of South of Grand Place and Southwest of the Place Royal. Adjust to it- Petite Sablon- it is a small park-nice!

5. Park de Bruxelles– It is an old park- I wish they had maintain it ..it is located in the bad neighborhood (Red light neighborhood) and our hotel located not that far from it LOL!!   You could just sit in that park and time will fly.

6. Atomiu-is a monument orginaly built for Expo ’58, the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair-Designed by Andre Waterkeyn & Les Architectes Polak. It stands 102 metres tall. Located on Boulevard Du Centenaire, beside the King Baudouin Stadium in Heysel Park- next to it are the Mini Europe (I did not go there but it looks interesting looking at the picture) and the Heysel/Heizel Metro station. I did not go inside the Atomiu- I did not feel it worth it- but the outside is a Wow design!! The architect will take your breath away-it glamour-sparkling and mind twisting.  If you are in Brussels make sure you visit😮😮😮🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 for creator

7. City Bruges- “Venice of the North” Lake of Love.- How to get to the city- from Central Station take a train which goes to Bruges-1hour –it cost about 30.00 Euro. There are two trains which lives the station every hour. The city is small –I am sure it will look much nicer in evening- it looks like they are trying to preserve the city as it appear in the old times-the roads; the road lights are different from 20th century. I wish I had a time and stayed one night –just to enjoy the night. I had lunch at Grote Markt (Market Square); took a boat ride through the canals –it was a pleasant experience.

8. If you know how to roller skate or bike-you should be in Brussels around the time they have skate or bike around the city event-which is held every Friday at 8 pm from June till end of September. It start at Square around Notre Dame du Sablon-do not worry if you do not have the roller blade o bike-they have cycles for rent. It feel like you are in some outdoor open party- the music blasting –it is organized by the city-so the City police with their uniform also join the skaters and cyclist …it is nice- Luck for me I stumble at the event returning after a visit to Notre Dame Du Sablon on September 2, 2011 around 7:30 pm- walking back to my hotel….I feel like I knew city very well now…I walk every where

9. Place St. Gerg– life music, clubs, restaurant’s & cafe’s…I had a good time …but I still think overall the square which is not that far from Gare Brussels is the place to be in sometime the afternoon. It is fun-people just sit on the stairs drink have a good time. On September 2, 2011 on Friday I was just walking around at the square-five young girls are sitting on the stairs having just a good time-drinking and chitchatting- age between 19 and 25. I want to capture it in picture-so I ask them if I could take the picture around 8:30 pm- they say sure and sat down chitchat for a while took the priceless picture.

PS- If you are in Brussels you must taste the mussels- it is a saying I did not-but I did have mussels in France -1st time and I regret that I was not brave enough in Brussels
